The Benefits
When you think in a positive manner, you are able to affect your entire attitude toward life, thereby changing your life! Positive thinking brings inner peace, improved relationships, health and wellbeing, happiness and satisfaction. A positive perspective shifts your view on what is happening in your life, and you are able to work with any situation and see the gift in it.
Positive thinking can be very contagious. We all give off subtle clues to the moods we feel internally, and can change the entire atmosphere just by walking into a room. When you think about happiness, good health and success, people will pick up on this, they will like you instantly, because they are picking up on the positive vibrations that you are emitting.
How it Works
For positive thinking to ‘work’ and produce successful results in your life, you must anticipate the very best. Even if there is a delay, always imagine that what you desire is ‘on its way’. Take positive steps and actions toward what you intend to create in your life, and then maintain a good feeling about it showing up in ‘divine timing’.
To make positive thinking effective, there are things to consider beyond just repetition of a few positive statements, or consoling yourself by turning a blind eye to problems. Positivity should be adopted as a predominant mental attitude, in the face of every situation and circumstance. It is not about just thinking positively during an intense session of conscious thinking, while the rest of the day you’re letting fears and disbelief rule your mind. A genuine shift whereby you constantly monitor your thoughts and feelings, is required.
What to do
- Use only positive words (ones that ‘feel good’) while thinking and while talking. Affirm statements such as, 'I can do this easily and effortlessly', 'I am capable', and 'it is possible'.
- Focus on things that give you feelings of happiness, strength and success, and make those feelings grow and expand.
- When negative thoughts come to mind (and they will!) say, “cancel, cancel” or “delete, delete” to interrupt yourself from dwelling on them. Immediately switch over to thinking about something pleasant.
- Get to know what ‘works’ for you, in terms of making you feel uplifted. Focus on those feelings and mental images.
- Try to read something inspiring every day. Surround yourself with your favourite positive quotes. They will work as subliminal messages to keep you feeling positive.
- Avoid reading or listening to the news, or watching television or films that lower your mood. Elect to watch things that make you laugh and feel happy.
- Choose to associate with people that are positive to be around. Walk away from those that bring you down. Eventually, they’ll get the idea!
- Try to develop a good posture. Physiology has an impact on mood. Shoulders back, head up, and smile. It makes you feel more confident and positive, in an instant.
- Engage in physical activities that you enjoy. It will keep the circulation going, pump oxygen through your system, and make you feel good.
- Know that the world is your oyster. Believe in yourself and that you can achieve anything you desire. Know it in your heart and soul, believe it, and act as if it is true. Sure enough, you will magnetize it into your life.
When you fill your mind with thoughts that are light, filled with positive expectation and feelings of confidence and strength, your life will reflect these qualities.
